What is cpi inflation
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is a measure of the average change over time in the prices paid by consumers for a basket of goods and services. Inflation is the rate at which the general level of prices for goods and services is rising, and, subsequently, purchasing power is falling. Central banks attempt to limit inflation, and avoid deflation, in order to keep the economy running smoothly. When a central bank is successful in controlling inflation, it is said to be maintaining price stability.
